Counseling services
All of these services are provided to those who are on probation with Lubbock-Crosby County CSCD and are free of charge. For additional information or to determine eligibility, please contact your assigned officer.
Assessments: psychological evaluations, substance abuse evaluations. A referral for a psychological evaluation can be made in order to determine an official diagnosis or treatment needs. A referral for a substance abuse evaluation would be appropriate due to current substance use, history of substance use or by court order.
Individual counseling: to address substance abuse, criminal behavior, emotional problems, mental health, anger and trauma.
Anger management groups: Information provided in this 6 week group includes the following topics: orientation to anger and anger management, events/cues for anger, anger control plans, aggression cycle, cognitive restructuring, assertiveness training, conflict resolution model, anger and the family.
Mental health/substance abuse group:This group is provided for those with dual diagnosis (having a substance abuse disorder and psychiatric disorder at the same time).
DWI/Drug Court groups: these groups are provided for those who are involved with Drug or DWI Court. DWI and Drug Court outpatient groups cover a wide range of topics ranging from the 12 steps to the Matrix Model workbook. Participants are required to complete the first three steps while they are in outpatient. They must also attend 12 step meetings and obtaining a sponsor is highly encouraged while in outpatient treatment. After outpatient treatment is completed participants are in Aftercare for most of their stay in DWI court. Aftercare groups offer ongoing continuity of care, steps, sponsors, meetings, discussion.
DWI group: These groups are provided for those who are assigned to the specialized DWI caseload. DWI group focuses on developing coping skills, life management skills, and communication/relationship skills to effectively abstain from substance use. Groups address relapse triggers, thinking errors, and supervision compliance along with personal treatment goals.
Female substance abuse group: this group is provided for those who are assigned to the specialized female substance abuse caseload, CRTC discharges, SAFPF, after other treatment programs. The information provided in these groups include psychoeducation, relapse prevention, addressing issues of past abuse, molestation, and trauma.
Aftercare/relapse prevention group: A cognitive based treatment which addresses thinking errors, addictive thinking, and relapse process, deterrents to reoffending or relapsing into drug use.
Early Intervention Group: These groups are available for those who engage in low level use, typically marijuana and experimental use. This six week group focuses on early intervention counseling. The information provided in this group is basic and will include the following: experiencing post acute withdrawal, return to denial, avoidance and defensive behavior, starting to crisis build, feeling immobilized (stuck), becoming depressed, compulsive/or impulsive behavior (loss of control), urges and craving (thinking about drinking/using), chemical loss of control (drinking/using), and the signs of relapse.
